Summary : The link is an interview with Scott Schuman, a street fashion photographer and a blogger. He started his fashion blog ten years ago, and at that time, he says he did it just for fun. However, his blog, Satorialist has become more and more popular and photos were published in a book. He thinks the reason why the fame of his street style photography is loved by a lot of people in the world is that he takes photos from ‘real’ people. Before the street fashion became important source in fashion industry, the public depended on fashion magazines and model images and they make the public feel a gap between reality and ideal of fashion. By taking pictures not only people related to fashion but also ordinary people who are fashionable, Schuman showed diverse fashion styles to the public and let them be fashionable with their own clothes, not with prestigious fashion brand.

Opinion : I have admired Scott Schuman’s work before I selected this link because his perspective on fashion and his works really impressed me. I knew him from his book Satorialist at first. From the book, he said he felt the gap between fashion in fashion shows and real fashion. The gap made him to go out and take pictures of people’s fashion in a real world. After I read the book, I was shocked and happy for I used to feel the same with Schuman that clothes in fashion world are difficult, hard to understand the purpose, and hard to wear by the public. I believe his photos of street fashion will decrease the gap and let street fashion itself develop. His works inspire me all the time that I will launch a fashion brand with unique but not difficult design which will meet the niche between ideal and real fashion with moderate price so that the public likes to wear.
